Visitors to Harrodsburg will first notice the beautiful rolling grass covered hills with rock walls that divide many of it's great horse farms. The beauty of Harrodsburg and Mercer county is what sets apart much of the bluegrass region from the rest of the country.

The charm of Harrodsburg comes from it's history and it's people. A warm, friendly greeting is the norm for the people here making everyone feel welcome and at home. The history sets Harrodsburg apart from other similar cities in the area, as Harrodsburg is the home oldest permanent settlement in Kentucky.

Fort Harrod, near downtown offers a look into the past as it's faithfully recreated buildings are occupied by local historians and artisans that offer insight into the rich history of the area and the early days of our country.

Also on the site of Fort Harrod, you'll find the marriage cabin of President Lincolns parents. Many people aren't aware that Lincoln was born in Kentucky. There is a great museum on site where you can learn about this and many other great topics.

Beaumont Inn, is a beautiful historical Inn and restaurant located just to the south of downtown on Beaumont drive surrounded by masterfully built historic homes and mansions.

Visitors will soon be able to visit Eddie Montgomery's Steak House. Located on the 127 by-pass, the ground breaking ceremony occurred in early 2008 and should be opening in about 2 years.

Diamond point is home of the Harrodsburg/Mercer County  Tourist Commission. The historic building is believed by some to be haunted as well. Visitors can find more infomation inside. Click here for more information.

Away from the hustle and bustle, there is pleanty to do here, with golf, fishing and of course horseback riding. Harrodsburg is also centrally located making it a great home point as there are many other great central Kentucky attractions in close driving distance in almost every direction.

To the north, just a few miles you'll find Shaker Village, a great place to visit and learn about the history of the unusual Shaker Community. A few miles further and you'll find yourself at the beautiful Kentucky river, with it's awesome canyon walls. A few miles further and you'll be in the great city of Lexington, with all it has to offer.

To the Northwest, you'll land in Frankfort, the capital of Kentucky. Along the way there are many great bourbon whisky distilleries, with tours available.

To the west, Perryville battlefield located in the small town of Perryville. Here you'll find a great parklike setting, and a view of the field as it was at the time of the battle. There is a small museum on site and some great monuments.

To the South, is Danville which is the site of the signing of Kentucky's constitution. Danville has a great history in the field of medicine and is still a home for many medical specialists. Also located in Danville is Centre college and it's beautiful historic campus.

There are great hotels and restaurants in town that will make you feel at home during your visit, and provide you with more information about local attractions.
